Diary of a fat girl

Ok...so I have decided that my life is out of control and I seriously need to do something about it, so I figured "where better place to put my struggles, feelings, and victories then my Blog for all the world to see?" *facepalm*
I figure if I document my progress and kept honest here, it would be easier.
For those of you who read this (my family and friends) please dont chastise every bite i stick in my mouth or rag about my working out....just be quietly supportive and be there when I need a boost of self confidence!
Recently two special men in my life have motivated me and made me want to better myself, so I want to thank you Brion and Corbett for your support, quiet encouragement and lesson by example.
Corbett, I might not say it enough, but you motivate me so much, and talking with you about your struggles to lose weight, set backs and "getting back on track" really really do make me think that this time I can do it. Even our conversations about what spices help make food taste better. =)
Brion....your workouts and lifechanging habits in the face of much adversity and negativity make me convinced that I can do this, even on a shoestring budget. I dont need a fancy gym, just the motivation to move!!!
Anyway, I am not going to put my weight on here but I will post some pictures for a "before and after" thing so I can look at them and see the changes....its hard when you see it every day, to see where you are making progress.
My habit changes are going to be in two parts: 1- portion control and 2-excersize. I figure any change i can make in these two areas are positive ones, so I will start slow and grow from there.
Day 1: Got up 30 minutes early and danced till I sweat. I figure to start a healthy routine, I should do something I like...and I love to dance, so dancing it is!! I even used resistance bands part of the time. Really feel great today! Might even throw in some excersize tonight when I get home.

Ode to the Neti pot!

Let me be the first to say.....squirting warm water up my nose, was NOT something I ever thought I would be doing intentionally!!

When my doctor recomended (or threatened me within an inch of my allergy ridden head) that I go buy one and use it faithfully, I of course said "uhhh...I dont think so!" which soon turned into "we'll see".

Well, here we are, about 6 months later, and cedar is comming into season My sinus cavities feels like I am lugging around lead in them and I wake up in the mornings not able to breath.

I took the plunge and bought a neti pot this last weekend....well, bottle to be more specific. It took me 3 days to finally put water in it and try it out.........WIERD is the first word that comes to mind, but it is followed quickly with exclamations such as "HOLY CRAP, I CAN BREATH!!"

What is a Neti Pot, you may be asking. A Neti Pot is a ceramic pot, shaped much like a genie lamp, that you fill up with salt water, stick it up one nostril, tilt your head, and let the water flow in your nose through one nostril and out the other. That’s pretty much it, but wikipedia, as usual, has a much more informative article.

So....I encourage you, if you have sinus issues or allergies at all....GET A NETI POT!!! seriously...do it!

AARP

ok, so for about 3 months now, I have been recieving invitations to join AARP.

I realize I am getting older....but come on!!! So, today I wrote a short note to the "no faced person who keeps pestering me with great incentives if I join AARP NOW!!!" My note said the following:

I happen to be a huge fan of AARP and would love to be a member, so if you could get back to me in 15 years, 2 months, and 8 days (when I am actually old enough to recieve the benefits), I'd be most appreciative!!!

Thank you for your time

Amy

Not sure if it will help, but I can hope!!!

Man's best friend???

Looking at the two innocent faces above, one would be lead to believe that they are the source of constant joy in my otherwise boring life.......such was not the case yesterday!!!
The local animal league had a Rabies drive, where you could go and get your pet's rabies vaccine for 8 dollars, (You pet owners out there know what a great deal this is) so of course it was the perfect day to take my two loyal companions to get updated.

Having traveled quite a bit in the past, they both were excited and jumped right in the car, we drove the short distance to the clinic and got in line to pay. They were both excited and wanted to sniff everyone else there (including one feral cat who almost took off a chunk of Gus' nose!).

After paying we went to the outdoor canopied area where the vaccines were being given....and honestly it happened so fast, I missed it....but my 10 year old terrier (the white one) lifted his leg and PEED on the Vet's shoe!!!!!
I was MORTIFIED!!!! The vet was a little aggravated but smiled and kind of joked about it.....then as he bent down to kind of brush his shoe off, my other little darling, the 6 year old Japanese chinn who is so quiet and docile that my mother swears he has no personality, turned around (and I kid you not), and crapped at the vets feet.

At this point, I wanted to crawl under a bush and cry! The vet tech was laughing, the vet was not, the poo stunk, and the two young boys that were helping out kept saying "oh gross! P.U.!!!" finally, one of the boys went and grabbed the "pooper scooper" and took the mess out of the way, and the other quit fanning his nose.

I swear to you....my dogs looked up at me adoringly, and smiled!! I am almost sure of it.
